MY FAITH JOURNEY
I grew up in a Christian home where faith was a part of my family’s daily life. I went to church, youth group activities and church camp my whole childhood, yet my faith remained young. At age 18, I moved to New York City for school, and I found myself stepping away from my faith. I drifted into the mentality that I could choose how to live because it it was my life. I was living my life for me, making impulsive decisions that were not always responsible or moral. I’d visit my family in Texas and still feel at home, but I had a nagging feeling that I was living two different lives.
Six years into living in New York, I met a guy named Chris. The day Chris and I met, Chris prayed to God that he would be be a light in my life. Chris brought a purity to my life that the Lord knew I needed, and God used Chris to completely change my life’s trajectory. My life truly took a 180° overnight, the path I had been on was over, and a new chapter was beginning. I started to pursue a relationship with the Lord and Chris, and a year and a half later, we got married and moved to Texas together. Six years into marriage and two kids later, I can say hands down that God used Chris’ “light” to guide me into a whole new life with the Lord.
In Texas, Chris and I were helping lead worship at our home church when God started to flip my life around again. At one of our church’s worship nights, I met Kallie, the founder of RECESS Ministry. I instantly knew she was on fire for the Lord, and I wanted to get to know her more and learn from her. We made plans to have lunch, which then led to me going to Colorado with the RECESS team to help lead worship for one of their final conferences for that group (June 2017). I learned more about RECESS through our practices leading up to the conference, and when the conference came around, I could hardly wait to witness this ministry in action.
I had never experienced worship on this deeply spiritual level. I remember being at that conference and seeing how the RECESS team worked together. The team cared for and respected each another, honored and uplifted each other, and lived life with such freedom. The RECESS team welcomed me with open arms, and I knew I wanted to be part of this kingdom family. That summer I got to go though the RECESS book with a few of other alumni, and then I helped lead Houston’s fall RECESS group of more than 100 women. Each time I go through the same study, the Spirit makes it new, and each time I feel transformed.
God truly has used RECESS to change my life. I have found ways to truly connect with God and have developed a deep and authentic relationship with Him — one that honestly no longer feels like a bad blind date when I spend time with Him. I am safe to make mistakes and receive God’s grace. I have learned tools to break chains from my past, to help heal old wounds, and to pursue a higher calling on my life. The Lord has corrected and softened my heart, changing the way that I mother and the way that I love Chris and others.
A NEW CALLING
Recently, God opened up an opportunity for me to serve on the RECESS team as their Creative Director. In this role, I will create, organize and implement all creative projects for the ministry, such as podcasts, social media marketing, and communicating the stories of women who have experienced the freedom they found through this ministry. Our prayers in sharing these projects and stories through Facebook, Instagram, etc. is not just to build up the ministry, but we want as many women and people as possible to be exposed to the love of God. We truly want to build an online community that champions and supports women to walk intimately with God for a lifetime. See images below for a glimpse into some of the creative work I’ve gotten to do with RECESS so far!
Joining RECESS’s Staff Team is a big leap of faith for me and my family. With that, I want to first ask that you would be praying for me as I begin this new chapter in my life. I ask for prayers to cover my faith, my family and provision for this ministry. I also ask for prayers for RECESS that it continues to bear good fruit for the Lord.
Secondly, I ask that you would prayerfully consider supporting my ministry work. I plan to work three days a week and much of the support I am raising is going towards childcare for our two beautiful daughters. I know how God has used RECESS to radically change my life (and so many other women’s lives), and it’s exciting to be a part of a ministry that God is rapidly growing and using in big kingdom ways. Below are my financial needs and ways you can support:
- Monthly Needs: $2,500
- One-time Needs: $3,000

This process of fundraising truly has humbled me and shown me how awesome God is, so I thank you in advance for your support and love. This will be life-changing, not only for the women who go though RECESS, but also for me and my family. I am honored to be a part of this ministry and share RECESS with you.
